What should you avoid when finding a job?

Confessions:

I had a bad time of finding a good job. Therefore, I made up most of the information on CV. Unfortunately, the recruiter focused on those points and I became a joker during the interview. Hence, I lost my wish-list job! – Tam, a Training staff in a Bank shared.

 

Nowadays, many candidates are not afraid of stating wrong information on applications in order to get their expected job. That information could be their hobbies, characteristics, or working experiences, etc., However, it is difficult to circumvent the Recruiters because they have the ability to capture the mentality of candidates. Thus, this is absolutely not a big problem for them.

There are some main points summarized by Vietnamworks that candidates need to avoid telling wrong information in the application and in an interview:

 

Making up qualifications:

Even though you did not have the Bachelor or Diploma degree as requirement of the job, you l declare them  in your resume. Our advice for you is that you should be confident and show your capability by sharing your working experiences. The degrees are a necessary condition  of the job, however, your competences show who you are.

 

Prolonging working duration in the past:

You may want to conceal the time of looking for job or have something you do not want to share with others. Nevertheless, please do not prolong your working period because the Recruiters could easily confirm that point.

 

Making up your working experiences:

There are a large of number candidates that aspire to get desirable job and ”fabricate” their experiences to make resume fit with the job’s’ requirements. In some cases you may pass the round with HR Department, however, you will be detected by direct line Managers because they are experts in that professional area.

 

Inflating achievements and skills:

You have gained some achievements and skills but do not exaggerate. You may not know your advantages at this moment, so talk to your colleagues or friends to find out more about yourself.

 

Providing incorrect references :

Have you ever been afraid that your Managers would not allow you to give out their information as reference? Or he/she would not say good things about you? Or you hesitate to provide reference? And the only way to solve the problem is to modify the references? It is definitely wrong idea because the recruiters will check your references when necessary.

What a pity for the make-up profiles because these candidates have accidentally lost their chance but they did not know! Opportunity only comes to honest people!
